“intimate”是一个英语单词，既可以作为名词，也可以作为形容词。

作为名词时它后面常接介词“of”或“to”，例如：“make intimate of one's thoughts and feelings”（使……知道某人的想法和感情）。

作为形容词时，它后面常接介词“with”，例如：“an intimate with the power of the President”（与总统有亲密关系的人）。另外作为形容词的“intimate”还可以后接介词“that”，例如：“He had an intimate feeling that she would not come.”（他有一种感觉，觉得她不会来）。“intimate”是一个形容较为亲密的词汇，所以在一些情况下也可以后接介词“with”，例如：“I have an intimate relationship with my dog.”（我和我的狗有一种亲密的关系）。

另外“intimate”还可以作为动词使用，表示“暗示、提示、使明白”等含义，例如：“The look on her face intimated that she was not happy with the decision.”（她脸上的表情暗示她对这个决定不满意）。
